Amachi Knoxville is the passionate response to at-risk youth with a focus on children of incarcerated parents. Amachi matches youth 4-17 years old with caring adults who establish life changing mentoring relationships.

Knoxworx is a workforce development program that focuses on an individual by creating a custom designed employment process. We assess participants, designing a pathway that incorporates their specific needs as we walk toward sustainable employment. Nothing eradicates poverty like a job. KnoxWorx works with all ages of individuals, however our main focus has been on 16-29 year olds.

Homeownership is the best way to build long-term, generational wealth and financial security.Research shows that homeownership builds strong families, strong communities and long term financial wealth.

Homebuyer Readiness Program exists to help make homeownership a reality for many of Knoxville’s residents who are often overlooked by traditional lending and financial institutions. Our qualified coaches will work with you in a 1:1 setting to establish a spending plan, rebuild and/or repair credit, and to help you navigate the mortgage and lending process.

Since 2005, the price of single family homes in Knoxville has increased 65%, while household incomes have only increased by 19% forcing the large majority of our Low to Middle Income population to spend over ⅓ of their entire income on housing.

Neighborhood housing, Inc.’s goal is to help restore community pride, within Knoxville’s neighborhoods, by building modestly priced homes and assisting low/moderate income families in the pursuit to become homeowners.

OPERATION BACKYARD

DID YOU KNOW THAT » over half of Knoxville’s homes are over 30 years old and in need of critical emergency repairs?

Often, these homes are occupied by elderly and disable individuals living on less than $1500/month who cannot afford any repairs.

Operation Backyard is a minor home repair program supplying materials and recruiting volunteers to provide home repairs for low income families who own their own homes.

FLENNIKEN LANDING

Flenniken Landing offers permanent supportive housing using a Housing First model to engage the most vulnerable individuals experiencing chronic homelessness. Permanent Supportive Housing is a known solution to homelessness, because it meets people where they are and at their level of need. By providing a multitude of supportive services for our residents, true healing can begin for our formerly homeless neighbors.

The average cost of a one-bedroom apartment costs $840. In order to afford that, one would need to make $16 an hour, working 40 hours per week. Making minimum wage in Tennessee, one would need to work 89 hours per week, to make that same unit affordable.

COMPASSION COALITION

The Knoxville area has over 680 churches that have the resources and capacity to make a monumental difference in the lives of vulnerable citizens of our community.

Compassion Coalition serves Knoxville churches by informing them of needs in Knoxville; equipping them through compassion and benevolence training; and connecting them to areas of need so they move beyond their four walls to service in our community.

THE REGAS BUILDING

The Regas Building serves as KLF’s downtown headquarters. We completely renovated this 125 year-old iconic Knoxville landmark into a nonprofit resource center. It is a co-office location for several nonprofits and serves as a training center for the social sector and others. Plus, it’s got a great coffee shop- Vienna Coffee House.
